CPC students walked for water today

A 'Mini Walk for Water' was undertaken this morning by students at Cross and Passion College to highlight the fact that 2.2 billion people around the world do not have access to safe water, writes Brian Byrne.
Relay groups from different classes made the trek, on a 3km route taking in the Spout in the Valley as the water source.
As part of the Green School 'water' theme this year, the event also symbolised how it is women and children within that deprived group who make most of the 6km on average round trips to collect water, quite often in dangerous circumstances.
Older pupils and teachers acted as stewards on the walk, and crossing the main street safely was facilitated by Kilcullen gardai.
