Public meeting on Dunnstown battery storage next steps

A public meeting in Two Mile House next week will discuss the next move following An Bord Pleanala's decision to overturn planning refusal for a Battery Energy Storage System at Dunnstown, writes Brian Byrne.
The proposal by Strategic Power Projects Limited was initially turned down by Kildare County Council planners, but the planning board reversed that decision last October.
The campaign group Two Mile House Says NO is now raising funds with the intention of seeking a judicial review of the ABP decision. The public meeting will be held in The Brown Bear next Tuesday, 18 April, beginning at 8pm.
A GoFundMe appeal established on behalf of the campaign to meet legal fees so far incurred has to date raised €7,260 against a target of €20,000.
The key concerns of the campaign relate to fire safety and damage to the environment, and the possibility of the BESS leading to other energy infrastructures in the area.
