Scoil Bhride pupil's art in Texaco 2023 competition

A work entitled Firefly(s) by a pupil from Scoil Bhride Kilcullen is among a number from County Kildare currently under evaluation in the Texaco Children’s Art Competition 2023, writes Brian Byrne. Adjudicator Eoin Butler is pictured above admiring the piece.
Winners in the seven age categories, including one exclusively for artworks by young artists with special needs, will be announced in mid-April.
Last year four students from Co Kildare won prizes in the Competition, which is now in its 69th year and widely acknowledged as the longest running arts sponsorship in Ireland. Kilcullen young artists have regularly featured in recent years. In 2020, Della Cowper-Gray was one of four Kildare child artists to win an award, for her portrait The Mighty Finn. Della's younger sister Mae's portrait of her best friend, Ella Browne, with the title Missing Ella (Loneliness during Lockdown), won her a national category first prize in the 2021 Competition.
The competition is hosted by Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited – the company that markets fuel in Ireland under the Texaco brand.
