Cliona sets up environmental education consultancy
A new environmental education and consultancy organisation for schools, communities and other groups has been set up by Kilcullen woman Cliona Kelliher, writes Brian Byrne. Educate Green Ireland is now live on both a dedicated website and associated Facebook page.
Cliona, who has been interested in environmental matters for some three decades, is among other things the founder of Kilcullen Community 4 Climate Action, through which she organised circular economy festivals in 2022 and 2023.
As a member of the Secretariat of the Kildare Public Participation Network she organised the first Kildare Climate Action Weekend in 2020 which was designed to offer a broad range of awareness and engagement events around climate action.
She won an outstanding achievement award as a Climate Ambassador with An Taisce in 2022, during which she spoke with Transition Year students in Cross & Passion College, offering an overview of climate change and what individuals can do to help mitigate the effects.
In 2022 Cliona completed a Master's in Climate Change, Policy, Media and Society in DCU and is currently attending Maynooth University and studying Global Citizenship Education.
She has also contributed articles to the Bridge magazine in Kilcullen on Sustainability.
