Climate Action Event this weekend online
An online Climate Action Event will be presented through the coming weekend by the Kildare Public Participation Network, writes Brian Byrne.
The Event starts on this Friday night, 27 November, and aims to highlight all the different ways to get involved in Climate Action and to feel positive about individual contribution to change. From recycling to sustainable energy to local food, we can all work together to tackle this and build resilience.
The first part of the programme will be at 7.30pm on Friday, with a talk on Resilient Local Communities by Davie Phillips of Cultivate. He will lead a discussion on what we can cooperatively do in our local communities to adapt positively to the challenges we face.
From 8pm on the Friday evening, links to three special Climate Action Podcasts produced by Kilcullen Diary will be available, on the subjects of innovative passive home building, giving older electric cars a new charge, and the Neighbour Food concept.
Two events are currently scheduled for Saturday 28 November beginning at 11am with Lets Talk Climate Action by Gavin Harte. This webinar will cover the terminology and science behind Climate Change and address why we need to act now.
At 2pm on the Saturday there will be an information session on the Sustainable Energy Communities in Kildare, with SEC Mentor Emer Conway in the chair. This 40 minute webinar will introduce you to the Sustainable Energy Communities network and will look at the benefits and supports they can bring to your community.
The programme concludes on Sunday 29 November at noon with a video stream on Recycling Dos and Donts, featuring County Kildare Environmental Awareness Officer Dara Wyer. He will go through what can and can’t be recycled and were to correctly dispose of the waste that we can’t recycle, giving us a few useful tips along the way.
