Kilcullen-Newbridge bus route to become permanent
The temporary bus service between Kilcullen and Newbridge is being made permanent, writes Brian Byrne.
The service went on a temporary footing last year when the previous operator JJ Kavanagh pulled out.
Kildare South TD and Minister Martin Heydon confirmed today that the route is now being included in the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan which was launched by Minister Eamon Ryan and the National Transport Authority today.
Minister Heydon and Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer managed to get a temporary replacement of the service following the Kavanagh pullout. The service by Local Link was subsequently extended, and now the route will go out to tender for operation in quarter 3 of this year.
Other routes in the region under the scheme will include a new one linking Athy, Rathangan and Kildare.
