Narraghmore is one of three communities which have been nominated by Kildare County Council for the finals of the 2022 IPB Pride of Place Competition, the national winners of which will be announced on 21 January 2023.
A Gala Awards ceremony will highlight the finalists at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin, including the other Kildare nominations of the Liffey Linear Park, Newbridge, and the Suncroft Young at Heart group.
Narraghmore is in the Village with a population of 300-1000 category, where Narraghmore Development CLG has led an impressive transformation of the village and oversees a variety of hardworking voluntary groups such as Biodiversity & Tidy Town Committee, The Old Hardware and the newly formed Sustainability Committee.
Liffey Linear Park, Newbridge was the nomination in the Creative Place category, a flagship project by Newbridge Tidy Towns that is a 9.5-acre public park along the banks of the River Liffey, in what used to be a floodplain.
Suncroft Young at Heart group has been nominated in the Community Wellbeing category. The group of older people felt that they needed to be with likeminded people, to reduce social isolation, improve the health and wellbeing of the older people in Suncroft and surrounding hinterlands, and to enhance their quality of life as they age.
The IPB Pride of Place awards are held annually with over 100 communities across the island of Ireland shortlisted for their voluntary efforts in making their communities a better place and IPB Insurance continues to be the key sponsor.
