New song video from Saoirse Mhór

Just to start to the week in a gentle music way, we thought you'd like to hear the first presentation of 2023 from Saoirse Mhór, Kilcullen-born musician Paul Durney, who lives and works as a professional singer-songwriter in Germany, writes Brian Byrne.

This rendition of 'Lord Franklin' is from the first of four videos planned for 2023 by Paul and his Síolta bandmates. The band have a number of dates already lined up on the thriving Irish music festivals circuit in Germany.

Paul sang as a youngster in the Kilcullen Community Capers back in the 70s.  In 1980, after a spell working in Berneys Saddlers he left Ireland and busked his way across England and Germany, where he settled in 1987. He last performed in Kilcullen in 2014, with a night on the stage of the Town Hall. 

In 2021 he won the Best Song of the Year in the 39th German Rock & Pop Awards, for 'Ashbury Lane' from his album Minor Tales Major Stories.
