GAA lodges planning application for pitches development
Kilcullen GAA has applied to Kildare County Council for planning permission for the development of new pitches and other facilities at the club, writes Brian Byrne.
The application is for the construction of two Juvenile grass playing pitches and one Adult grass playing pitch on lands adjoining to the existing club grounds.
The plans also require a redistribution of existing soil within the site to form a revised level site and the importation of additional inert soil and stones to raise site level by approximately one metre over redistributed soil level within an area of 3.1ha.
Haul access will be via temporary site works access onto the existing road at Kilcullen Business Campus.
The application also seeks permission for the erection of an all-weather 30mx15m training area with double sided ball wall with flood lights. The ball wall will be 5 metres high and 15 metres wide with a 5m high perimeter fence with four 13m high lighting columns to all weather pitch.
A Community fitness walkway and cycleway is also part of the application with active travel connections to existing neighbouring active transport nodes to the northwest, east and southeast of the subject lands with associated public lighting.
The club plans also require alteration and extension of existing car parking bays, and bicycle parking along with site infrastructure works, landscaping works and all associated site development works.
The application number is 221426 and submissions can be made up to 2 January 2023.
