'River pristine' ... until Kilcullen
Recent riverbank littering in Kilcullen. |
The amount of river bank litter on the Liffey at Kilcullen was raised at the recent meeting of Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne.
Tony Gahan reported that a canoeist who had recently paddled from Ballymore had found the banks to be 'pristine' until just upriver from Kilcullen, when a lot of rubbish, including drinks cans, were evident.
He said it was particularly noticeable from around the Berney's Inch area, with much of the debris being in the river itself.
There was a short discussion on the difficulties landowners along that part of the river face when trying to manage groups responsible for much of the problem.
