James takes silver in European Transplant championships
In his first and main event at the European Transplant and Dialysis European Sports Championships, James Nolan took a silver medal in the 400 metres today, writes Brian Byrne.
From a very warm Oxford, he says he was 'chuffed' to get second place on the podium, and with the support he has received for his 31st participation in the Games, among them his own family Emma and Andrew James.
"Huge credit to my Athletics coach, Kevin Walker from Newbridge who spent a huge amount of time training me for the Athletics," he said this evening. "I'm a little tired now but I’m in the 200 metres tomorrow at 11.55am and the 4x100 metres relay at 1.15pm tomorrow. As always, a huge thanks to my sister Catherine, who game me the Gift of Life 35 years ago — I feel so lucky and so privileged to be here."
