Sunday is International Bog Day

For families and their children interested in the environment, an outing to the Bog of Allen Nature Centre on Sunday next could be a fascinating afternoon, writes Brian Byrne.

The Irish Peatland Conservation Council is holding a number of events to mark International Bog Day 2022 on 24 July, including a hands-on activities.

Starting at 1pm, there's an opportunity to help clear scrub on Lodge Bog along with An Taisce Climate Ambassador representatives.

There are also guided tours and walks of the peatland exhibition and the Lodge Bog.

Activities for children through the afternoon include pond dipping, and viewing the National Reptile Zoo Live Exhibition.

The day is supported by The Heritage Council, An Taisce, and Kildare Co Council.
