Council planning dog waste awareness events

Kildare County Council is preparing a series of dog awareness events to highlight the problem of dog waste not being disposed of properly, writes Brian Byrne.
The events will take place across all municipal districts and will include the installation on a temporary basis of audio warning devices on routes regularly used by dog walkers.
At the recent full Council meeting, Environment and Climate Action Director of Services Joe Boland submitted a report to a motion by Cllr Peter Hamilton saying that the events will be run in all five districts at the same time, and will be accompanied by a press and social media campaign.
Stencilled notices in the vicinity of the audio warnings will also be applied, to remind people in the long term, and a new batch of dog fouling signage will include entries from a poster campaign ran by the Council last year in schools.
This campaign follows on from one which was operated in July of 2021.
