First Synod meeting was 'small but wonderful'
We held our first Synod Assembly meeting on Thursday night in Scoil Bhride NS, writes Robert Jordan. We had a small, and, to be honest, somewhat disappointing attendance. So we took the immediate decision to simplify proceedings and take all four questions on the night.
This was a great idea. The comments afterwards reflected wonderful sharings at each table. Comments like: 'very pleased I made the effort'. 'Delighted I came'. 'So encouraging to share about our faith.'
We took our time and everybody got to say their piece. There was a buzz of quiet conversation all around the room throughout. After each sharing session, we took a moment to record our answers on coloured cards, one for each question. These are unsigned and will be analysed and summarised later for our report to the Archbishop.
If you can come next Tuesday at 7.30pm, please do. Make your contribution. We will adopt the same programme, and again, we hope to finish around 9 o'clock.
