Cliona Kelliher of Kilcullen Community 4 Climate Action spoke during the week with CPC TY students about addressing climate change, writes Brian Byrne.
Cliona was there in her capacity as a Climate Ambassador for County Kildare, one of two in the county.
The Climate Ambassador initiative is nationwide, and is designed to train and support individuals taking action on climate change. The programme is co-ordinated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce with support from the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications. It was established in 2017.
The reaction from the students was that Cliona's presentation was 'a very interesting, informative and empowering talk'.
Meanwhile, the programme for the 'Treasure Town' sustainability day organised by Kilcullen Community 4 Climate Action next Saturday 7 May has been finalised.
The event at the Kilcullen Community Centre will run from 11a,-3pm and will include Bicycle Repair, Plant Swap, Plant Propagation, a Sewing Workshop, Cooking Demonstrations, Children's Activities and Biodiversity Talks.
