Big crowd in Dowlings for quarry fight auction

There's a full house in Dowlings of Ballyshannon this evening for the auction fundraiser organised by the Ballyshannon Action Group, writes Brian Byrne.
In addition to the selection of items on view in the nearby hall, pictured below, there are many other items going under the hammer courtesy of auctioneer John Dooley (above). They include vouchers from many local businesses, offers of services and experiences, sports memorabilia, and lots more.

The Diary couldn't wait for the event itself, but our photos show some among the large crowd of supporters.
It is understood that more than €5,000 in online bids have been received in the last week or so.
The funds are earmarked for the expenses incurred in fighting the imposition of a sand and gravel quarry on the rural community by Kilsaran Concrete.
