Kilcullen PO robbers foiled ... with Francis's brush
It's just 20 years since Francis Shortt was wounded in the shoulder by shotgun pellets as armed robbers tried to steal cash from the Post Office in Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.
They didn't get anything from the PO operated by Francis and his wife Mary, because Francis retaliated ... with a brush. The two would-be robbers sped off on a Suzuki motorbike.
The Mirror clipping above was sent in by Francis and Mary's daughter Sandra Shortt Kunzle, who lives in New Jersey USA. "Boy, has time flown!" she says.
