Community Centre Coffee Hatch opens for business

The Coffee Hatch at Kilcullen Community Centre was officially opened this morning, and Centre Manager Enda O'Neill — pictured here with the coffee crew — says there was a steady stream of customers through the morning, writes Brian Byrne.

The initiative is aimed at providing another income stream for the Community Centre, Enda notes, and also provides four part-time jobs in the community. "We have Monika, our supervisor, with Renate, Gretta and, on Saturdays, Abby, so that's brilliant."

A full range of coffee favourites, tea and flavoured teas, cake slices, cookies and 'healthy cakes' are on offer at the hatch, which also serves to give a sense of more life to the exterior of the building.

The Coffee Hatch is expected to be particularly popular with parents at drop-off and pick-up times for the nearby schools, as well as offering hot drink options for students of CPC during break and lunch times.

Opening times are Monday to Friday 8.15am till 3pm, Saturday from 9am till 3pm and on Bank Holidays from 9.30am till 2.30pm.
