Samhain @ Sult, a celebration of Kildare art next week
An art, music and book reading event — Samhain @ Sult — will be held on Wednesday next, 24 November, in Kildare town to celebrate the arts as the season of Samhain draws to a close, writes Brian Byrne.
The event in the Sult Gallery at Bolands, Market Square, is organised by the Sult collective of Kildare-based artists, and proceedings start at 7pm.
The evening will feature the first public readings from Mantles: Encountering Brigid, published by Arlen House, as well as live music from Kildare musician James Blennerhasset. This in the ambience of art pieces from the members of Sult, who include Kilcullen artist and sculptor Noel Scullion.
Mantles: Encountering Brigid is a series of essays, fiction, photographs and photo etchings, which re-imagines new representations of Brigid as an archetype of the sacred feminine.
The evening will include contributions from Kildare-based novelist and short story writer Shauna Gilligan, and Achill-born artist Margo McNulty who has exhibited in Ireland and internationally over recent years.
All guests will be required to present their COVID Certs on entry to the event, wear face coverings, use sanitiser provided and observe social distancing.
Samhain @ Sult is free, but intending guests should email sultartists@gmail.com and include their telephone number.
