Kilcullen is in line to have a Bicycle Repair and Pump Station installed by Kildare County Council next year, writes Brian Byrne.
Councillors of the Kildare-Newbridge MD were informed of this today at their online meeting. The installation of five such stations around the municipal district is subject to funding.
The report was on foot of a Motion by Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy asking that the council cost and identify optimum locations for such stations.
Officials said the Road Safety, Cycling and Sustainable Transport Officer had costed the units at €1,195 each. The proposed locations also include Newbridge, Kildare Town, Rathangan and Monastervin.
The proposed sites for the Kilcullen unit are either the Community Centre or the Library.
