Planning refusal for Brownstown residential development

An application for planning permission to build nine homes opposite the Link Business Park has been refused by Kildare County Council.

The proposal by Nyle Rafferty would have involved the demolition of an existing house and outbuildings and the construction of one-and-a-half storey detached houses and associated works.

The planners refused the application on the basis of four reasons in the reports from officials. These related to the agricultural zoning of the site, concerns about negative effects on groundwater by the proposed individual waste water treatment plants and the lack of appropriate infrastructural connections, and road safety considerations over inadequate pedestrian and cycle connections on a busy regional road.

An application in 2001 for outline permission to build 18 houses on the site was refused by Kildare County Council.
