Ballyshannon 'Margins' Community Day today

A Mind Your Margins Community Day will be held today, Sunday, 10 October, by the Ballyshannon Action Group.

A cleanup of the road from Racefield to the crossroads will begin at 2pm. This will be followed at 3pm by everyone involved standing on their road margins to wave to the camera as the Group makes a video.

"This video will help us to raise public awareness about what is happening here, so that we can keep fighting the inappropriate quarry development planned by Kilsaran," a spokesperson for the Group says. "After all of that, join is in Dowling's Pub for some tea and treats as a well deserved thank you!"

Those taking part in the event are asked to bring what bags and litter-pickers they have. A limited number will be available. Filled rubbish bags will be dropped at the entrance to Lugatanna Park for collection.

"We want to show our beautiful community, our road and its residents in all our glory, celebrating our resilience, standing strong together and shouting loud so they can all hear us: “Our home is not a haul route!”
