The price paid by the buyers of Kayfoam Woolfson, which owns the Kaymed factory in Kilcullen, has been confirmed at €101.2 million, writes Brian Byrne.
In an Irish Times report this morning, new owners Leggett & Platt, based in New York, also note that Kayfoam Woolfson has annual sales of around €68 million. Leggett & Platt make components used in office furniture, bedding and car seats.
Kayfoam Woolfson owns bedding brands King Koil, Kaymed and Odearest. Established more than a century ago by William Woolfson, control was acquired 14 years ago by FL Partners and clients of the now-defunct Anglo Irish Bank.
In 2018, Kaymed dropped plans to extend the Kilcullen factory, because of concerns over Brexit and 70pc of sales being to the UK.
The latest sale was announced in June.
