Back to (near) normal downtown

Downtown Kilcullen looks like what a real bank holiday Monday should be, for the first time in too long, writes Brian Byrne.

Alan O'Connell — pictured with Wayne Logan and Emer, the new Team O'Connells — says they're really happy to see people back at O'Connells Bar, with outdoor space in front, back, and upstairs all nicely busy.

And just along the way, Mick and Mary Masterson are equally glad to reopen their business in Macs. "Great to meet people to talk to again," Mary says (with no reflection on Mick, but there's a limit to lockdown conversation options!).

And the buzz goes on ... (there might be a low-key acoustic session in the square during the afternoon from Tony Kirwan).
