Sirena Fox hairdressing moves into new Kilcullen space
Overlooking the River Liffey is a new location for hairdresser Sirena Fox, but it's not a new business, writes Brian Byrne.
Now open for appointments at the back of Martin Murphy's superbly refurbished building beside the Heritage Centre, Sirena is offering the kind of boutique service she has been giving her clients from her home in Castlemartin ... although for much of the last two years she was closed due to Covid restrictions.
"When I decided to go out on my own after 16 years, I had my two young children, so I operated from a purpose-built small salon at my home," she says. "But I always had my eye on somewhere like this place, and when the opportunity came up, I took it."
Small but perfectly formed is the term that comes to mind when you see her premises, geared so that she can manage it with the help of one assistant. "It's intimate, and that's what my clients like. When they come in they know exactly who they're getting, which suits what can be a very close relationship between hairdresser and client."
Sirena works by appointment only, so the boutique service also gives her the flexibility to both operate her hairdressing service and keep time for her family. She is also a master colour expert and works with hair extensions.
