Looking Back: The Big Tree
Anyone still remember The Big Tree? It stood at what is now the entrance to Conroy Park, and was cut down some 47 years ago when development of the estate began. It was thought to have been there for 300 years.
When the trunk was being cut up, it was found to be full of nails from signs posted on it down the centuries, and this resulted in many broken chainsaw cutters.
