Request for upgrades to Slí na Sláinte route

Upgrades to the Kilcullen Slí na Sláinte walking route are being requested from Kildare County Council by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, writes Brian Byrne.

The route is one of many established nationally by the Irish Heart Foundation in association with support local Councils.

In Kilcullen it starts at the crossroads and runs for 4.1km along the Old Carlow Road, Yellow Bog Road, McGarry's Lane and back in by the Milemill Road. An extension spur brings those happy to go a bit more down through Kilcullen and finishing at Moanbane Park. It was originally developed by Kilcullen Lions Club and the EHB.

A motion from Cllr O'Dwyer down for the next meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge MD asks the Council to undertake a feasibility study on the possibility of installing paths and signage where required to make the route safer for walkers and cyclists.
