Council to address gully problem in Nicholastown

Kildare County Council is to investigate an issue with ponding at the entrance to Nicholastown Estate, writes Brian Byrne.

This is in response to a motion from Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer asking the authority to carry out repairs to a gully at the location, to prevent ongoing flooding and pooling of water.

The Council is also to examine the existing Slí na Sláinte walking route in Kilcullen for possible improvements. This is on foot of another motion by Cllr O'Dwyer asking for a feasibility study of the walking way, with a view to having it shovel ready for any future central funding for cycle and walking routes.

The councillor was told that relevant departments such as Transportation and the Sports Partnership will look at the route. Simon Wallace, Senior Executive Parks Superintendent, said the Parks Section do not have the capacity to undertake works related to the proposal in the current year but would like to progress projects such as this, to be ready for potential central funding announcements.
