Punchestown Racecourse has been designated as one of 37 sites across the country which will be used by the general public to access a Covid vaccination, writes Brian Byrne.
When these sites are up and running, people will be asked to register for an appointment online for vaccination at the centre.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says that the centres will be used as part of the vaccination programme as supply of vaccines increases. Currently vaccines are being administered in nursing home, healthcare and GP settings.
Operating hours at each centre will be based on vaccine supply and catchment area need.
Punchestown is the only site in County Kildare. It is currently used as a test centre for the virus.
