Extra money for TidyTowns groups
Up to €1,000 in extra funding is available to TidyTowns groups around the country in a €1m allocation announced by the Department of Rural and Community Development on Christmas Eve, writes Brian Byrne.
This is in addition to the total of €1.4m allocated at the end of 2019 for the 2020 SuperValu TidyTowns competition which did not take place because of Covid-19.
Minister Heather Humphreys has already committed that the 2021 competition will take place and will announce further details later.
The competition has been in place since 1958, and there are 987 eligible TidyTowns groups registered across the country.
