Essential works in train at Community Centre
With the Community Centre closed due to Level 5 restrictions, a range of essential and emergency works are being undertaken this week, writes Brian Byrne.
Key is the planned first phase of the Traffic Management plan on the Centre campus, involving repairs to the currently broken surfaces and later relining the parking and throughways. The gravelled space at the back of the main building will also be surfaced and lined for parking as part of this.
With the schools closed, and no current use of the Centre, it's a good time to have this done. "There are no people, especially large numbers of children, in the area during the lockdown, so it's much safer," says Centre manager Enda O'Neill. "That also means it is safer for the contractor and his staff, with no traffic."
Emergency works on the floor of the main area of the Centre are also in train, as is final detail fitting out of the new accessible toilet in the Centre.
