Kilcullen's Biodiversity Action Plan will be among ten such which will be launched at a county celebration event in early February, writes Brian Byrne.
The online event on 11 February at 7.30pm will include two photographic exhibitions — Wildlife of Irish Peatlands by Tina Claffey, and Wildlife of Kildare by Suzanne Behan.
The celebration is for the Kildare Community Biodiversity Project, in which Kilcullen is one of ten participating groups.
As part of the Kilcullen Biodiversity Action Plan, some 1,500 trees and hedging plants have already been planted in the area, by volunteers and workers with Kilcullen Community Action. Other initiatives have included distribution of a number of hedgehog boxes and the provision of free saplings to the community before Christmas. The Kilcullen group also took part in a training session about the importance of pollinators.
Attendance at the online event will require registration with greenpineconsultants@gmail.com, and places are limited.
