Remembrance ceremony tomorrow can be viewed on the web

The remembrance ceremony for those who have died in the past year will take place during the 11 o'clock mass in the parish church tomorrow, writes Mary Dillon. The church will be closed to the public due to national restrictions. The mass will be available on the radio (fm 107) and on the web.

We will remember by the lighting of a candle and the placement of a names on the remembrance tree all who have died in the last year. We will also remember all those who have died in previous years by the lighting of a large communal candle. The individual candles will be left in the church and may be collected and brought home by family members. Those not collected will be lit at mass during the month of November.

It has been the tradition that families who experienced bereavement in previous years would also place the names of their loved ones on the remembrance tree. If anyone would like to continue this tradition they may do so by calling Mary Dillon on 085 1119898 who will arrange to have the names placed on the tree next week.

To lose a loved one is always heartbreaking but this is a particularly difficult time because we cannot observe our usual traditions. It is important that we remember those who have died and the loss suffered by family and friends.
