Thinking food for the weekend


The local takeaway food offerings over this weekend include today's special from The River Cafe of Barbecued Pulled Pork with Red Onion and Melted Cheddar in a Bun, €6.50 or €9 with a cup of Minestrone Soup, writes Brian Byrne.

From Armelle's Kitchen the mains are Vegetable Lasagne €7, Parsee Red Chicken Curry with Basmati rice €9, Beef & Red Wine Pie with Puff Pastry topping €9, Bacon & Mushroom Crêpes 2 for €8, and Chicken, Ham and Mushroom with grilled Cheese Tartine €5.

Fallons special is Curried Monkfish with red onion, courgette, aubergine, black olives, preserved lemons and gremolata €11.

Bardons are again open for takeaway with a selection of standard and vegetarian mains, their menu is accessible here. Phone 045 482286 from 1pm, collection 4pm-8pm. 

The Spout Bar has pizza and pints, as well as cocktail selections and coffee, for takeaway, lunchtime and teatime.

Kalbarri Cookery's specials tomorrow from the Bake Shop are Chicken Prosecco with rice, Beef in red wine with Colcannon, Arancini with roast red pepper dip, spare ribs with red cabbage and chipotle slaw. The Brown Bear offers mains including Crispy Sweet & Sour Pork €15.50, Ginger & Chilli Fillet Beef Stir Fry €17, Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Burger €14.50 and Fresh Cod and Chips €17.50. Order at 045-883561, pickups from 5.30pm. Draught beers and Guinness also available takeaway. Sunday Roast Chicken for 4/5/6 people, with trimmings, €70/€75/€80.
