Small increase in Covid infection rate in Newbridge LEA

The Covid-19 14-day infection rate in the Newbridge Local Electoral Area has increased somewhat to 233.9 per 100,000 people, writes Brian Byrne.

That's the figure to 19 October 2020 as published on the Covid-19 Ireland Hub, and compares to 222.6 seven days previously. That represents a 5pc increase, compared to an 84pc increase reported a week ago.

The national infection rate has gone up more significantly to 279.3 from 177.2 on 12 October.

Kilcullen is part of the Newbridge LEA. The rates in neighbouring LEAs are Naas 276, Athy 124.3, Baltinglass 175.8 and Kildare 124.5.
