'Virtually Shackleton' on all day today
A reminder that the 20th Shackleton Autumn School gets under way this morning as a virtual event, writes Brian Byrne.
The event begins with a welcome at 10.30 this morning, and will be followed by a full day of streamed talks on a variety of themes associated with the explorer. The full programme is available here.
Thanks to support from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht and Media, people can participate in Virtually Shackleton free of charge.
There are many ways to take part - joining online for panel discussions and lectures, sending in video messages, getting involved in the conversations on social media, and even meeting others for a 'virtual pint' in O'Brien's Bar, Athy (provide your own pint at home).
Registration can be made online by clicking here. You can join live by clicking here through the event's Facebook page.
