Animal shelter charity appeals for auction-able items
An appeal has been made by the Kildare West Wicklow SPCA animal charity for donations of items suitable for its very successful fundraising auctions, held on the group's Noah's Ark Facebook page, writes Brian Byrne.
The charity, which is also actively seeking a location for a new Animal Shelter to replace the existing one in Athgarvan, relies very heavily on its Charity Shop in Newbridge, Noah's Ark, to raise funds for the animals in its care. The shop had to be closed for three months due to the Covid restrictions, but it is now up and running and although business is slow, it is picking up gradually.
The auctions enable the group to sell some of the better items that have been donated. Ideal donations would include china — complete or pretty vintage type oddments; unwanted gifts; small furniture items; unwanted jewellery; household goods; vouchers from hairdressers, beauty salons, golf clubs, dog grooming salons, and coffee shops.
Donations can be left into the Animal Shelter between 10.30am and 12 noon on Saturday mornings or 086 6803295, 087 6750488 or 086 3413017 to arrange another time or to arrange for someone to collect the items.
"We are so very grateful for all the support we have had so far, and for all the marvellous donations that have kept us going through these difficult times," KWWSPCA said when making the appeal, "and we hope that you will all be able to continue to support us and our work."
