Wellness Weekend in Kildare Town
In a concentrated burst of wellness, no less than 31 events are planned for this weekend in Kildare Town's Wellness Weekend, writes Brian Byrne.
Ranging from yoga, pilates and tai chi, through physiotherapy, massage and reflexology, to meditation, mindfulness and Zumba, and more, it's a festival very appropriate for the tricky times we're living in.
The event runs from Friday through Sunday and is mainly concentrated around the town's newly-pedestrianised square, which has been marked out also to manage social distancing. It is organised by the Kildare Town Projects Group, and bookings for any of the facilities and therapies can be made on the group's eventbrite page. Costs range from free to €15.
"Constraints of Covid mean we have limited availability at each event but we have endeavoured to compensate for that with a great array of options, many of them running concurrently," says group committee member Suzanne Doyle. "We aim to have something to suit all levels of interest and abilities from a dawn chorus yoga session to chair yoga held indoors. We hope that these activities will offer participants respite and reflection on how best to cope with the stresses of our new Covid culture."
