Bike Week 2020 starts today
National Bike Week starts today and runs through 27 September, writes Brian Byrne.
Postponed from June because of the pandemic, the event under the Government's Active Travel initiative has bike-themed events throughout the country, though none are listed for Kildare.
Anyway, that shouldn't stop you getting out on your rothar for at least a while during the week, and savour the fresh air of the autumn, especially with the fine weather hanging in for this weekend at least.
If you're driving, just give that little bit of extra care and space to us on two wheels. And if you're on those two wheels, do wear a reflective jacket and helmet, and be aware of the needs of the motorist.
There are a few interesting facts about bicycles on the bikeweek.ie page here.
Locally, why not use the event to explore the Camino Chill Chuilinn? With 10k or 16k versions, it's an easy trip for all in the family.
