Heritage Week launch for Camino Cill Chuilinn

A number of County Kildare based initiatives for National Heritage Week 2020 beginning on Saturday will include the launch of the Camino Cill Chuilinn, writes Brian Byrne.

The Kilcullen Heritage Group project is a 16km route which brings walkers or cyclists on a self-guided tour that takes in historical, physical and religious elements of the Kilcullen area. For local people it's a reminder of times and events which all came to underpin the community of today. For visitors, it can help to imprint a more rounded recollection of Kilcullen for after they have moved on.

The Camino Cill Chuilinn will be posted online on Tuesday next. A print version, with a map, will be developed later, and it is proposed to also produce an audiovisual variant of the project.

Other County Kildare events include a 'Where in Kildare?' Trail and a guided walk of Medieval Kildare in Kildare town, a Historic walk of Moone Abbey House and Tower in Moone, and a talk on the Kill Ambush.

The Irish Peatland Conservation Council will be uploading a a two-minute video called 'Managing Pollinators in Your Community Garden' which will be uploaded to IPCC's YouTube channel and social media accounts.

From Celbridge there's a webinar planned around the town's workhouse entitled 'If These Walls Could Talk', courtesy of the local company General Paints Group.
