Good turnout to KCA AGM
There was a good representation of local councillors at last evening's AGM of Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne.
They included Suzanne Doyle, Noel Heavey, Fiona McLoughlin Healy, Peggy O'Dwyer, Tracey O'Dwyer, Rob Power, and Mark Stafford.
Chair Ann Cashman welcomed them all amongst a full and socially-distanced attendance at the AGM in the Heritage Centre. In her report to the meeting, she thanked all members and volunteers who had worked through the last year on the organisation's various projects.
In addition to the regular projects of Christmas Lights and Kilcullen In Bloom, she noted the ongoing work on the Valley park, 'now much valued by the community', and the development of the Fairy Trail which 'continues to create joy'. "Kilcullen In Bloom was quite different this year, but is very important for keeping up the town spirit," she said.
The Polytunnel and Pollinator projects continue to be developed, and she thanked the leaders, Eoin Houlihan and Paul Leighton respectively, for their work. The efforts on the 'daunting' task of applying for Leader funding for two major projects, by Eoin Houlihan and Noel Clare, was highlighted. Local businesses and community donations for the lights and flowers projects were also singled out for appreciation.
Ann noted the welcome increase in KCA membership during the last year. Speaking directly to the councillors present, she thanked them for their 'fantastic support'. "They have been always there at the other end of the phone, and their dedication to the community is very much appreciated."
She agreed to remain as chair for another year, as there were no other nominations.
Following the AGM there was a short EGM to agree to amendments in KCA's Articles of Association. Then there was a short ordinary meeting, followed by a private meeting with the councillors.
