Community Centre Market likely a monthly event
A decision to reprise last Saturday's Community Centre Market on a monthly basis is expected to be made this week, writes Brian Byrne.
The event proved to be highly successful, with more than 400 customers visiting the market, which was opened by Eco Eye presenter Duncan Stewart.
"We were very happy with the way it went," says Community Centre Manager Enda O'Neill. He added that it would be nice to have more stands from local businesses as it develops.
Duncan Stewart said such markets can be at the heart of a community, especially in social terms where they can be a place where people come to meet as well as shop.
Though it will be a month before the next market at the Centre, Crean's Place will be there on every Saturday between 10am-2pm, selling their bread and pastries from a stall at the building's entrance.
Details of the next Market will be posted when they become available.
