On this day in 1509 Henry VIII was crowned King of England. On the same date in 1540 he commanded Anne of Cleves, his fourth of six wives, to leave the court, being given two houses and a generous allowance. She did better than her successor, Catherine Howard, who was beheaded. As had been his second, Anne Boleyn.
