Open call for Culture Night 2020
A call for involvement in Culture Night 2020 is being made by Kildare County Council Arts Service, writes Brian Byrne.
The annual all-Ireland event this year is scheduled for Friday 18 September 2020, and from 4pm until late venues and events will be free to the public.
Any group or organisation which wants to take part should contact Culture Night Kildare Coordinator, Federica Petronilli, at culturenightkildare@gmail.com, before 5pm Saturday 20 June.
"It seems likely that some COVID 19 restrictions will be in place and a re-imagined Culture Night programme will be offered," Federica says. "We expect that this will take the form of experimental physical events (if and where possible, in line with government guidelines) alongside virtual programming and presentation of artist commissions.
"Although challenging, we hope Culture Night will be the opportunity to explore our potential for social and cultural solidarity and also an exercise of re-socialising our audiences, our artists, our hosts and ourselves."
Priority will be given to projects of high artistic ambition, with cognisance for inclusivity, sustainability and accessibility, in line with the Arts Council Equality, Human Rights and Diversity Policy. "We are also committed to projects that pay the Artist."
