Library service celebrates Criunnuí na nÓg on Saturday
A range of podcasts, photography, and other cultural creativity from Kildare's young people will be shown online by Kildare Library Service on Saturday 13 June, to celebrate Criunnuí na nÓg, Ireland’s national day celebrating the creativity of children and young people, writes Brian Byrne.
Much of what will be shown is the result of a series of online workshops running this week for young people between 12-18, on How to Make a Movie, Songwriting, Podcasting, and Digital Photography. There may still be places on some of these, if you check out here.
Saturday's showcase will include a traditional song workshop with Aileen Lambert, based on Bridget of Kildare. An environmentally-themed visual arts workshops inspired by the Curragh will be led by Audrey Walsh, and there will also be a presentation by Griese Youth Theatre.
Athy Sing and Sign will offer basic tuition in the facility, and on the ‘Kildare Speak’ podcast, Eoghan Rua Burke will be speaking with young people from Clane Tennis Club. There's also a textile art created by young people from Rathangan, working with Aideen Cross.
Young readers can also have a virtual check-in with Children’s Books Ireland at Riverbank Arts Centre.
