CPC Transition Year celebrate virtually with video
With no possibility of the usual end of school year celebrations, the Transition Year students in Cross and Passion College held a virtual one instead, writes Brian Byrne.
The video result is a compilation of the work of the TY year students, edited by Daniel Groome and produced by Martin Cavanagh of 'SeeItLive' video production and streaming service based in Monasterevin.
"We are delighted with the results as it reflects the experience of TY both in school and our subsequent TY at home work," says Glenda Groome, TY Year Coordinator.
The presentation included messages from the teachers and CPC Principal, and music and talks from many of the students themselves, streamed from their homes. All aspects of the school year were incorporated in the video. Just some of these were the volunteering work of the students, various aspects of their studies and endeavours through the year, sports achievements, and the enterprise companies established as part of the curriculum.
Principal Joe Leonard thanked all involved, including teachers, parents, and those who had interacted with the students during the year. In particular he thanked the young people for their engagement with the TY activities. "You really got on board with it, and I want to thank you for that," he said.
The presentation finishes with a rendition of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' by one of the students, the background photo of a real rainbow illustrating the year's joys and the future hopes.
