Community Centre ready for the action
Over the past few months Kilcullen Community Centre has been closed due to the Covid 19 pandemic, a quietness that just didn’t belong to a facility that should be at the heart of a community, writes Centre manager Enda O'Neill. The staff at the Centre have not been idle over the lock-down period and have been working hard to prepare the premises for its phased re-opening.
Doors, frames, skirting boards have all been re-painted, floor decals have been laid, information posters are in view and new hand sanitising stations have been put in place in both the Community Centre and All Weather Pitch.
Over the last two weeks we have seen some of that energy return to our All Weather Pitch with No. 1 Fitness holding boot camps, some clubs holding non-contact sessions and our own Jennifer Landers even doing a bit of dancing on the pitch, which was great to see.
From June 29th we will be able to open our Centre doors again to the public (and not a minute too soon). With this, of course, there will be changes, these to keep both staff and users safe, for example a one-way system and log book will be in place to try prevent Covid 19 attacking our community and centre. Class facilitators can contact me and I will explain how this new system will work. Disposable face masks and gloves will also be available to patrons should they need them.
On another positive note, due to popular demand, Lets Go are hosting a second summer camp in Kilcullen Community Centre from Monday July 27th till Friday July 31st, again places are limited so get in early to book. You can book online at www.letsgo.ie
Kilcullen Community Centre will also be the new home to our local speech and drama school, Drama Dynamics. Evelyn O’Sullivan and Drama Dynamics will start their classes in the Connolly Room from September 14th. For further details contact Evelyn on 087-6441504 or on her website www.dramadynamics.com
Finally, I would like to thank my staff Mark, Fionn and Adam for all their hard work helping to prepare the Complex for its re-opening. We are still taking bookings for the Centre and All Weather Pitch but time slots are booking up fast. Remember our Sports Hall and All Weather Pitche are perfect for birthday parties. Our price list can be found on the Centre window and is published on our Kilcullen Community Centre facebook page.
If anyone wishes to contact me on any issue or query, please feel free to call me on 087 9681040.
