Looking Back: Athgarvan NS, c1961

This photograph of the entire Athgarvan National School, taken around 1961, has been sent by Mary Brennan. She says it includes the Principal, Mrs Nicholson, and the Master Mr O'Rourke, with Donnelly's Hollow in the background.

Among the group is Mary's sister Joan who was three years old and was sent to school for the day to be included in the photo. Her cousin Valerie MCormick, the second from left in the lower back row, brought her cat to school. "You can just about see the cat's eyes," she remarks.

Meantime, we have now been given a bit more information on yesterday's Looking Back picture, including a number of names and some possible context.
