Kilcullen In Bloom 'will lift' the town

Snapshots of last year's Kilcullen In Bloom.
A hoist will be hired by Kilcullen Community Action to place window boxes for the Kilcullen In Bloom summer flowers programme, writes Brian Byrne.

This is so that physical distancing protocols can be maintained during the work, traditionally carried out by volunteers using ladders.

Last week's KCA meeting, held by video-conference, agreed that it was very important to 'give a lift to the town' by going ahead with the programme this year.

Flowers have already been ordered for KIB, and though it is unlikely that normal financial supports from the community and businesses will be available, 'the important message is to be positive', according to KCA chair Ann Cashman.

Positive messages are also to be placed on the plant boxes around the town to help boost community morale during the coronavirus restrictions.

It isn't yet clear if the related Gardens Competition will happen this year.
