Dog poo distress
A Kilcullen mother from the north end of town has expressed her disgust at dog owners who use a walkway there and don't clean up after their animals, writes Brian Byrne.
Sarah Kavanagh walks with her two young children on the one-minute stretch of lane between Hermitage Park and Kaymed and says that there is an increasing amount of dog poo that isn't cleaned up.
After many 'near misses' with shoes and buggy wheels, Sarah recently counted the instances of unbagged poo and also the stuff that had been bagged but then thrown into the bushes.
"There were 16 instances of dog poo on the path, and three bags thrown in the trees," she says. "For some reason, people think they are exempt from having to clean up after their dogs when on this walkway."
She makes the very topical point that one of the things we're being encouraged to do during the Covid-19 crisis is bring children out in the fresh air. Something not easy to do in conditions like this.
